And she really does bark. Pomeroy's Quickfire dish is a fairly simple poached-egg fricassee, but her dad is a soft-spoken fellow who has a hard time hearing what she wants done through the barrier. That prompts Pomeroy to yell, with the volume increasing as it becomes apparent that her mystery line cook doesn't know what shallots are and isn't sure how to poach an egg.

The other chefs seems startled by Pomeroy's bossy approach, though that particular criticism has been an undercurrent through the whole competition, particularly among the male chefs who seem threatened by Pomeroy's youth and culinary prowess. If this where a male chef barking out orders, he would be characterized as forceful or dominant. But when Pomeroy does it, suddenly it's bossy and rude.

While Pomeroy's shouting gets the bulk of the camera time, the other chefs struggle with the process of having someone plate a dish blindly. Cardoz's sister doesn't hear all of his instructions, so the asparagus that goes onto her rendition of the stir-fried shrimp isn't cut up, jutting off of the dish like a green forest. Milliken tries to keep it simple with a spinach and avocado salad with shredded chicken, but the finished plates are messy. But Des Jardins' brother seems able to read her mind, coming up with a plate that's virtually identical to the one she's prepared.

When the mystery guests are revealed, none of the chefs fess up to having figured out who they were instructing. Maybe, but it seems unbelievable, particularly for Pomeroy, who says her dad is like her best friend. Hopefully best friends can forgive.

"He knows my personality, so I know I have an instant free pass for acting like a maniac," Pomeroy says.

Host Curtis Stone acts as the Quickfire judge, and he dings Cardoz for his and his sister's dishes looking so different, and he chides Milliken for not trying something more ambitious than a salad. Stone thinks both Pomeroy and Des Jardins' dishes are winners in taste and appearance, but he gives the win to Des Jardins and her brother.

For this week's Elimination, the chefs each draw knives representing one branch of American armed forces. Stone brings out family members of four servicemen who have recently returned home from tours of duty overseas, and the chefs are tasked with cooking a homecoming buffet featuring the soldiers' favorite foods.

MSRP is 0 and Blackhawk who owns MOD has stopped the MOD line altogether, so when these are gone they are gone. Already they are very hard to find. The pity and shame is they stop making these.
