Family events come to St. Croix River Visitor Center July 15

The Visitor Center is located at 401 North Hamilton St. in St. Croix Falls. It features exhibits, the 18-minute film, "The St. Croix: A Northwoods Journey," a 500-gallon freshwater aquarium, and a large-scale aerial photo of the riverway mounted on the floor. NPS rangers are available to help you plan a river trip, direct you to maps and educational materials, and answer your questions about the Riverway and your national parks.

Sand dunes in Colorado may be an unexpected site, but they sure is amazing. Made on achieving broad time, this ever-changing landscape that is much more than a pile of sand. The highest sand dunes in North America climbed about 750 feet above the San Luis Valley. When visiting the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve outside of Mosca and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, visitors can admire the views of the dunes and other cool stuff. List of things to do in the Sand Dune Great people according to the National Park visiting for anywhere from several hours to several days. Camping, backpacking, driving tours, picnic, watch wildlife, and hiking is a popular choice, but to watch the sand dunes.  Hearty types can head to the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness, where miles of trails wind past Alpine meadows, beautiful lakes, and other dramatic scenery. Montville Nature Trail and the Mosca Pass trail is also interesting places to be discovered while exploring the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The Mosca Pass winds through one of the most beautiful valleys found anywhere. In the spring, wildflowers is just amazing, as is the view Zapata Falls.

Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day at the National Park , no matter what the season. Hours vary for exhibitions and operations at the visitor center, which is open 9:00 to 4:30 in winter. Spring and summer are usually 9 to 5, and 9-6 in the summer. Visitors have many options for the Great Sand Dunes National Park campgrounds. For all the individual sites, access is available on a first-come, first-served basis, no reservations accepted. As long as space is available, campers can sign up for their sites at any time of day. Groups of 10 to 100 can make reservations for camping tents. Only one mile from the Visitor Center is located Pinyon Flats Campground, which offers 88 places which can accommodate six people and two tents. Large shade trees a few sites, while others are located in pinyon trees. Half of the campsite is open all year, and one toilet facility is heated in winter. In summer, this location for the Great Sand Dunes National Park campgrounds fill up fast on weekends, with most of the site taken by noon. During the week, campers usually arrive later in the day.

Great Sand Dunes National Park campgrounds can accommodate RV’s, although there are no hook-ups for electricity or water provided. Larger vehicles may difficultly maneuver through tight turns, but there are many campgrounds within a short drive from the park to accommodate a large RV. Primitive camping is allowed at 25 designated campsites along Medano Road. Such as camping tents, the site is available to anyone who gets there first. Besides camping, visitors have many options for lodging near the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Cabins, motel standard, even a farm or two are located within a short drive. Just outside the entrance to the park, the Great Sand Dunes cottage inn specializes in the mountains and warm hospitality. Guests were treated to views of the mountains, sand dunes, and the San Luis Valley area of private terrace. Other options for lodging near the Great Sand Dunes National Park can be found in nearby towns. LaVeta, Westcliffe, and Silvercliffe offers easy access to reach the east garden of their hotel, RV parks, campsites and bed and breakfast. Hooper close to the western edge of the park. Within 50 miles, travelers can book hotels near the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa, Monte Vista, Fort Garland.
