$1.3 Billion from Japan for Guam Buildup in the Bank, NAVFAC Outlines Spending ...

The Navy plans to award two Japan-funded projects in Apra Harbor, Guam, the naval base totaling up to $ 125 million over the next six months, and five projects this summer through 2013 worth about $ 1, 2 billion in Finegayan, Dededo where the new naval base will be built in a format NAVFAC Marianas.

The money for the contracts have already been set aside and coming years, Japan in 2009 and 2010, according to a recent presentation by the former commanding officer Captain Lynch, Peter. Mr. Lynch will continue to oversee the program for the Guam buildup of its new vice-commander of NAVFAC Pacific in Hawaii.

Of the over $6 billion the Japanese have pledged for buildup projects, already $833.8 million has been conveyed from previous years. Another $420 million earmarked for island water and wastewater utilities expansion and upgrades was enacted last March as part of Japan's fiscal year 2011 budget but is still pending the passage of related finance legislation to pay for it.

The Navy will use Japan fiscal year 2010 money to award a $100 million contract to build a Medical Clinic at Apra Harbor. Bids for the procurement came due on April 11 and the award is expected next month.

The money from the same fiscal year will also award next January a waterfront neighborhood of 25 million to Apra Harbor, the proposed seed for the second largest accumulation of awarding the contract to build several The SCAM Mamizu, which closed a tender June 21

The Navy will select up to seven contractors to compete for $ 3 billion in orders under the MACC Mamizu task over the next ten years or more. The money represents almost half of Japan's commitment to the total accumulation.

The MACC includes another project that was funded for FY 2010: Phase II of preparation work and utility of the horizontal ground Finegayan, scheduled for award in June 2012. Before that, however, the Navy plans to award a contract this summer autonomous Phase I, using Japan's fiscal year 2009 money. Each phase is estimated at approximately $ 500 million.

Subsequently, NAVFAC is to provide the first three vertical construction projects on the basis of new Marines, worth $ 225 million in total. Japan fiscal year 2010 is already money set aside for a station $ 25 million to fire Finegayan. And money expected in the 2011 budget will is slated to pay for a $100 million Base Administration facility and a Marine Logistics Group Administration facility, also worth up to $100 million. NAVFAC plans to award all three projects in October 2013.
