New Agreement

The Company has signed a new agreement with Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABAT) for the supply of Lithium Ion Phosphate (LIP). Pursuant to the agreement, , and assembly and testing began in May with completion to production standard in June.

At a evenhanded price this has tripled my battery life.

Disparate the Lenovo battery though it comes “unconditioned” so you really need to read and the follow the setup directions. I did.

I don’t quite get the 11 hrs some people are claiming, but I run with networking very active and the screen medium bright. I do see somewhere well over 9 hours using this battery.

I bought this battery so that I could charge my netbook at home, then not have to agonize about taking the charger with me to school in the city all day. Once I conditioned the battery (basically just charged it fully and then let it drain fully (to shut down) a couple times) it usually provided me a excellent six to seven hours of battery life away from the outlet (running constant wifi, brightest screen, strongest CPU settings, internet browser open nearly at all times).

Please not that during the process of conditioning, your netbook will likely produce inaccurate readings regarding estimated time remaining on the battery. This is normal. The netbook needs time to recognize the potential of the battery while the battery itself is being set up to be used to its maximum capacity.

Because this is a high cell battery, it IS over sized. It adds a significant amount of weight to the unit as a whole. It protrudes from the back of the unit about an inch or so, and adds something like a half an inch to the bottom (not exact measurements). There are feet at the bottom of the battery to prevent slipping. Because of the over size, the netbook ends up slanting downward, which is really surprisingly comfortable. I found myself typing more quickly and fluently with this slant than I did before with my wrists hanging over the lip at the end of the netbook.

Please note that if you use this battery, you will doubtless not be able to store your netbook in a case designed for 10 inch netbooks. This was a non-issue with me, but by the side of with the over size, the superfluous weight, and the slant the battery adds to the netbook, this might be something for another buyer to consider before making a buy.

Overall, this battery does what its meant to do (exceedingly well, in my opinion). There are some marked “down sides” but again I find no issue with them, and even embrace them.
