First Place for 'X-Men: First Class'

One of the year’s best-reviewed wide-release movies, “X-Men: First Class,” took in a solid $56 million at the North American box office over the weekend — easily enough for No. 1 and to help reboot a sagging franchise. Facing audience and critical rebellion over the last two “X-Men” installments, Tom Rothman, co-chairman of 20th Century Fox, took creative risks with “First Class” that appeared to pay off, including casting a cadre of untested young actors and approving a screenplay that includes Russian, French, German and Spanish dialogue — highly unusual for a summer blockbuster. In partial release overseas, the film took in an additional $64 million. “The Hangover Part II,” the raunchy buddy comedy from Warner Brothers, was second with an estimated $32.4 million for a two-week total of $187 million, according to Hollywood.com, which compiles ticketing statistics. “Kung Fu Panda 2” (DreamWorks Animation via Paramount) was third with about $24.3 million, sending its two-week total past $100 million. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” showed continued life in fourth place, taking in about $18 million for a three-week total of $190.3 million. The crude comedy “Bridesmaids” (Universal) was fifth with about $12 million for a four-week total of $107.3 million.

Another version of the simple knitting cast offs in the knit cast off. Here every loop is knitted before passing over the other loop. You have to start with knitting two normal stitches and then pulling the first stitch on the right needle over the second the stitch.

Knit the next needle on the left needles and continue till the end with this cycle. You can make your casting offs loose or tight by applying the appropriate tension. To create loose cast offs use a needle that is two sizes bigger than the required project needle.

Knitting cast offs like purl wise, sewn casting offs and so on can be used to create variations and elasticity. The purl wise casting off can be used create rib patterns. While the sewn casting off involves the use of a tapestry needle attached with a long tail of yarn. The most popular form of this cast off is from Elizabeth Zimmermann’s book “Knitting without Tears”.

This bound produces an extremely elastic edge, which is perfect for the top of a sock. The technique is simple, use the long yarn and the needle to pull through the two front loops, and then pull it back through the first stitch. After dropping the first stitch repeat this method till the end.
