The festival started in 2001 as a Parry Sound Rotary Cub and West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation fundraiser. Today, it’s a Rotary-led event with pledges going to Hospice West Parry Sound or teams’ charities of choice, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Parry Sound Habitat for Humanity and the Britt Nursing Station. Parry Sound U14 Soccer Team Wins Home Opener
Tyler Kalbe scored in the first minute and the PSSC’s Gordon Bay Marine U14 team never looked back. The Parry Sound Soccer Club hosted an undermanned Innisfil U14 A team at the Parry Sound High School last night and came away with a 6-1 victory. The quick start and 2 more goals in the first half by brothers Ryan and Lyle Archer gave Gordon Bay Marine a 3-0 lead going into the second half. With Innisfill only having 10 players on the field, Parry Sound voluntarily took one of their players off the field in the second half and still managed to outscore them 3-1 for the 6-1 final. Ryan Archer with his second goal of the game and Aidan Dudas and Noah Dudas rounded out the scoring for Gordon Bay, who are now 1-1-0 on the season.
