AGAINST THE TIDE: From Miss to Madam

Women are important members of the Nigerian society. We not only constitute 50 percent of the population, but we are grandmothers, mothers, mothers-in-law, sisters, aunts, friends, colleagues, managers, entrepreneurs, etc. In spite of our many talents, skills and qualifications and personal contributions we make to society, we do not seem to get the respect we deserve in all phases of our lives.

Unfortunately, there is a serious stigma associated with "Madame" or "Miss" phase. An important segment of our population as a woman who is a Miss, despite his many accomplishments and contributions as a failure. As she rose through the ranks of the company and acquire possessions, and is often scorned by men and women, who assume, often wrongly, that its growth is fueled by a sugar daddy. His married friends are often reluctant to invite him into their homes and neighbors to look like hawks. The family members hold meetings and prayer sessions in his name and faith-based organizations to organize seminars and outreach to "arrest" any "spiritual" obstacles that have kept him in this phase. The intense pressure of society compels many young women to rush into unsuitable unions and stay in a bad marriage, even when they are abused physically and emotionally. It also grows divorced women or widows to keep their married name, simply acquire a certain level of respect from society.

Phase "Madame," while it collects a little respect over the phase of "Miss", comes with its own problems.Immediately after the "Madame" is won, there is enormous pressure to deliver the complete package that many believe women - children! In work and social functions, the flow of questions: "How Oga?" "What about children?" A brand ninth month, the sessions of prayer and family gatherings begins again. As a man once told me: "A childless woman is like a withered tree without fruit." No one imagines that the man might even be one of the questions of reproductive or that the couple can voluntarily choose not to have biological children, and to adopt orphans in our society. For some ethnic groups, women "Madam" are ridiculed and son without risking losing their inheritance without a male heir. This pressure pushes women to have multiple births in quick succession looking for a male heir who, despite the health risks.

The "Mama Emeka," "Mama Ade" or "Mom Ibrahim" phase collects certainly more respect than the election of Miss or Mrs. phase, however, comes with its own burdens and expectations.Soon, the social pressure that was limited to Ms suddenly extends to his children, and it begins to be defined by them and their level of success: the name and value of the school they attend, their performance in school size of their birthday parties - and the amount of money spent on these party packs - their occupations, who marry and the size of their marriages, and then how quickly they make the "mama "a" granny "(hence the viscous cycle of family gatherings and prayer sessions)!

Brief History of the Astronomical Telescope II: Lenses and Mirrors

He saw mountains and craters on the moon, sun spots moving across the otherwise pristine surface of the sun, phases of Venus, and four of the moons of Jupiter. For him they confirmed the Copernican sun-centered (heliocentric) theory published in 1543.

How to find Venus in daylight | Skymania News and Guide

You will see nothing of its surface, however, because Venus is permanently shrouded in cloud. By all accounts that the surface is as close to hell as a place you can imagine, this may seem surprising given its jewel-like beauty.

The clouds of Venus are highly reflective of sunlight which is why it shines so brightly. It seems that the third brightest object in the sky after the Sun and Moon. She is so brilliant in fact that you do not need to increase to an hour to see supernatural - Venus is visible in daylight with the naked eye.

This is surprising because we are not used to look up and see our neighboring planet in a daytime sky. The problem is that it is not clear when the sun is drowning everything else in the sky and if you need to know exactly where to look. It is also difficult for the eyes to focus on the planet when they are the eyes in a blue canvas indistinct.

I followed Venus in the sky during the day on a number of occasions. It was certainly easier in the world, with a clear blue sky, like Provence in southern France, rather than the United Kingdom with its milky sky, customary, but even so it is possible by the brightness of Venus.

One way to keep a view of Venus is to wait a moment when the moon is near her in heaven. A computer program planetarium style can help you here - is the fire and see where Venus from the horns of the Moon (which will always be a growing, so close to the planet).Because of its size, the Moon is much easier to spot in daylight, so it can help find the Moon and then use it to locate Venus in the vicinity.

I last used this technique on 18 June, shortly after Venus was actually overshadowed by, or hidden behind the Moon from the UK, and the planet was an object easy to spot. The photo above was taken a few hours after the blackout ended as the Moon moves away.

An interesting observation noted in the photo is to see how bright Venus is the area for the area, as the moon.dark of our natural satellite, the rock surface is a reflector of sunlight much poorer than the clouds of Venus. We must be grateful for that or we see some weaker inhabitants of the sky when the Moon was in heaven!

If you are looking for Venus in broad daylight, then hiding the glow of the sun behind a building or tree will help. And mandatory warning for beginners: NEVER scan for Venus with binoculars in daylight if there is a danger of accidents by directing them toward the sun! You could be blinded.
